I don't work again until the evening of the 18th! OMG so excited. Nothing big planned so if someone wants to do something, sometime (lol) drop me a line.
So I somewhat survived exams. Did well on two, bombed my last. Meh. After my last exam (at 9am on a SATURDAY MORNING) I went to an 8 hour closing shift at work. It was the first of 7 consequtive days on. It sucked alot, I was bitchy and I'm glad it's over. Today is my first day off and I'm so glad to have it. Have a couple errands to do but they aren't going to be difficult and I don't have a travel far. I'm looking forward to sitting on my ass for a bit :)
anyways, merry christmas Fri, Dec. 8th, 2006, 12:29 pm
So Stef and I now have internet access again after 2-3 weeks without. Problems is that we don't have a DSL modem. Anyone have one that they would like to sell for cheap/give us?!
Stef's bike was stolen a week ago out of our backyard. It wasn't locked but people shouldn't have been in our gated backyard either! On my way to work today I passed the Tim Horton's on Bank at Gloucester St. and noticed a silver bike on the bikestand outside the store. Checked it out, and yep, it's Stef's stolen bike, unlocked outside. Thought of calling the police but I had no way of proving it's mine, so took matters into my own hands. Looked around and didn't look like the owner was around. Called work and told them I would be a bit late. There were some sketchy looking people on the other side of the plate glass window. Pretty sure they same me checking out the bike. Didn't give a shit. Rolled up my pant cuffs, waited for the light to turn green, grabbed the bike and booted my ass down the Gloucester St. Sprinted to our place on Lisgar, threw it on the house and locked up. Turned around and went to work.
I felt very satisfied with myself all afternoon.
I read LJ everyday, and sometimes comment, but I haven't made a post about myself in what feels like a decade. Wanted to give y'all and update on my life...so here goes. Work: Back at Starbucks after a 2 month hiatus at Cyclelogik. Did NOT like the management style (or lack there of) and the snobby attitude just made the whole situation worse. Made some decent $$$ but really should have just stayed at the s'bucks. Currently at the Bank and Slater location which is my FOURTH home store. Been with the company for 3 years, so I definitely move around alot. Have to say I like it though, it's like starting a new job with all new people and new customers but without actually having to learn anything new. I was promoted to supervisor a couple weeks ago, and it's about time considering how long I've been around. Never been able to make the time commitment to the company until now. Being part-time at school and taking almost all my classes on CUTV/Internet is uber-sweet and allows me to open up my availability. Really like the people I work with and that helps too. My manager is especially awesome. She is the first person to actually help me through everything to become a supervisor. Most people associate Starbucks with fastfood, but it is certainly not. They are extremely demanding but the reward is that I'm getting management training and getting paid for it rather then going to college to take business courses. I'm also saving up my stock options so that I can leave in a few years down the road with a nice chunk of $$$. It's stressful but I really like the job and LOVE my coworkers. It's amazing what a difference it makes when you are friends with the people you work with especilly in a really social environment like this one. school: Can't wait to get out. It's absolutly painful to go to school when you have no plans to actually use your useless degree. Thankfully it'll all be over in June. I can't really say much else except that I have developed a great hatred towards Carleton and I hope I never have to go back again. Probably doesn't help that I don't socialize at all at school, but considering that I hate being there it's not all that surprising. Life: I've managed to keep a small but close circle of friends who I love dearly. My social life isn't exactly rockin' the house down but I have a good time and have developed a deep respect for alot of the people in my life. Moving this/next week with Stef. Been living Chez Bell for a year and a half now and despite a couple of rough patches, I've loved living here. Been surrounded by cool people and made some new friends and really that ain't too bad. Stef and I are moving to a house of all our own on Lisgar St. and this is the first time I've lived with just one other person. I'm curious to see how the dynamics work, but I think it will be for the better considering that we bonded almost instantly. The house itself rocks my socks and I can't wait to move in. Love: Just broke up with Luc after 5 months which really really sucks. I quite like the guy, but differences in expectations killed it. I don't have alot of time or energy to put in a relationship at the moment (or ever?!) and just couldn't make a serious commitment at this point. I have to say though, I'm kinda looking forward to being single for a bit. Future: Graduating in June and working at Starbucks is my near future. After June though, I'm not completely sure. I really want to open a bikeshop of my own within 5 years and it's certainly a daunting project. Those 5 years will be spent saving up some $$$, becoming a manager at Starbucks for the training, developing a business plan and finding the right people to staff my dream. I'm thinking I'll stay in Ottawa to open the shop despite having a burning desire to leave the city. I'm just soooo comfortable here and have been here for 99% of my life that it makes it really hard to leave. One possibility is leaving to interior BC to open a combination Hostel/bike touring company with Neil and Warren. I think it's an awesome idea but i'm scared as shit of having a failed business. I don't really want to go bankrupt at the age of 28. In reality I'm doing better then 50% of the population because I atleast have an idea of what I want to do and I will have my degree if I need a fallback career in the gov't doing HR. *slits wrists* Anywhozzle...that's the life of Anthony as it stands. Hope it all works out.

Looking for an eye doctor in centertown/downtown that doesn't charge an arm and leg for an eye exam. Preferrably someone that specializes in contact lenses
orangeblosxom and I found an awesome place to live. A house on Lisgar at Bay. Open kitchen and living room with big bedrooms and bathroom. We get a basement again for the bikes. We also get a back patio (in need of some love) and a front porch. sooo excited and relieved that the search is over and that we got everything we wanted at a good price. We sign the lease tomorrow. weeeee Mon, Sep. 25th, 2006, 03:47 pm

this is the second morning that I've woken up with a really sore back, except that withing 30 mins of getting up this morning I started having muscle spasms. Went to work at noon in a semi-significant amount of pain. Couldn't move my head down far enough to comfortably look in my till so I was making change blind. I think it was good being at work though because the constant movement allowed me to stretch my very tight and sore back muscles. Now it feels like the whole middle of my back is a giant bruise and I've got an 8.5 hour shift tomorrow starting at 7:15 am. I was gonna try to find someone to cover my shift but I don't want to loose the hours and it's pretty hard to find someone to cover a shift at such short notice. I'm going to take a nice hot shower and use my massaging showerhead to ease my strained muscles. I'm just a little excited.

edit:So it turns out a friend had borrowed the bike. She asked me to use it for a day tour and I thought I had convinced her not too. She took it anyways when I wasn't home. Me being the idiot I am didn't figure it out. My bike was stolen!! from my backyard too. :( It was one of 5 out there. Not even sure how long it's been gone. Could have been a day. It's 35 years old and was my mom's so it has some sentimental value and I'd very much like to have it back. Anywho..it was from the Bell St. /Somerset area in Chinatown if anyone in the neighbourhood sees it. Looks just like the picture except now has brown aero brake levers, Continental tires, red bartape and a pretty nice Campagnolo drivetrain. If you see this bike please tell me.

Walking home from work tonight the air was COLD. Couldn't believe it with all the rediculously warm weather we have been having. Such a nice change

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/other_sports/cycling/5221122.stm~~~~~~ Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has given a positive drugs test, according to his Phonak team. The American, who claimed victory in the Tour de France on Sunday, has tested positive for the male sex hormone testosterone. The positive test came after stage 17 of the Tour, which saw Landis record an epic victory after struggling on the final climb the day before. Landis has been suspended pending results of his B sample analysis. The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on Wednesday that a rider had failed a doping test but would not reveal his name. "The Phonak Cycling Team was notified on Wednesday by the UCI of an unusual level of testosterone/epitestosterone ratio in the test made on Floyd Landis after stage 17 of the Tour de France," said a team statement. "The team management and the rider were both totally surprised of this physiological result. "The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter analysis (B sample) to prove either that this result has come from a natural process or that this is the result of a mistake." Phonak have also said that if the second sample confirms the positive test, Landis will be sacked. Landis had already withdrawn from two races in Europe this week, Wednesday's Acht van Chaam street race in the Netherlands and Thursday's Jyske Bank Grand Prix in Denmark. "Today, Phonak confirmed the cancellation. They could not say anything about why Landis has disappeared," said Jyske Bank Grand Prix spokesman Nils Finderup. "We have tried to call him, to call his agent, and to call the head of the Phonak team, but no one has answered." Organisers of the Acht van Chaam event were also angry at Landis' no-show. "We have tried to contact Floyd and his manager but we have not been able to," said race agent John van den Akker. "We are very annoyed. We have invested a lot of money to ensure his appearance and we would have expected some kind of explanation." Landis finished 57 seconds ahead of Spain's Oscar Pereiro in the general classification to claim his first Tour de France title last weekend.
